TRANTS PLANTS has been operating since 1997, it is a family run business headed by Horticulturist Lucy Trant and her husband Joe Guiney.

Lucy provides a complete service, from pricing planning and designing of projects to providing machinery. Customers deal directly with Lucy to ensure that all eventualities are dealt with.

Lucy, (B.Agr.Sc.) a graduate of U.C.D. Lucy trained in Holland, England, France and Norway before returning to Ireland and working as a nursery manager in Heffernan's Nurseries, Co. Kerry, where she was responsible for all landscaping projects undertaken. Joe has been self employed in agricultural contracting for over 20 years which has contributed to his extensive knowledge of soil, drainage systems, site excavation, clearance and preparation.

Trants Plants has a reputation for top quality work and a great attention to detail, it is also is a competitive pricer, enabled by the fact that Trants Plants have all the machinery necessary for landscaping.

Kerry Parents & Friends (where Lucy provides horticultural training) have a stall, every Friday at the Listowel Farmers Market where they sell plants and offer advice.

Lucy Trant as previously mentioned also works part time as a Horticulturist, running a Garden Centre owned by the Kerry Parents and Friends Association, working with young adults with learning difficulties. Lucy’s dedication to both her work as a horticulturist and working within her local community was most recently awarded when Trants Plants was presented the award for Outstanding Integration and Social Inclusion by  Kerry Community Awards. The award was presented by President Mary McAleese on the 13th May 2011. Below is a picture of Lucy meeting President Mary McAleese alongside other members of Kerry Parents & friends.
